# K06 UP Temperature Unit

### Definition

Multiplier applied to the **upstream** PT100 temperature sensor reading. \
Use it when the sensor's error grows in proportion to temperature rather than staying constant.\
Default: **1** (no scaling)

<summary><strong>Temperature Calibration Function</strong> <em>(Click to Expand)</em></summary>

> Used to correct temperature reading deviations from the optional PT100 temperature sensors.
>
> Related Parameters: **K06** UP Temperature Scale, **K07** UP Temperature Offset, **K08** DN Temperature Scale, **K09** DN Temperature Offset

The gain multiplies the raw reading; the offset is then added. Setting gain to 1 and offset to 0 returns the uncorrected reading.

#### **Choosing which one to adjust**

* Sensor reads high or low by a **constant** amount → adjust the offset only (K07 / K09) and leave gain at 1. This is the typical case for a surface-strapped sensor, where contact resistance shifts the reading by a roughly fixed margin.
* Error **grows with temperature** → adjust the gain (K06 / K08), verified against a reference at two or more points.
* At a single test point a gain error and an offset error are indistinguishable, so a one-point check cannot tell you which to adjust.

#### **Two-point calibration**

With two reference measurements (T₁ reference / T₁ raw and T₂ reference / T₂ raw):

Take the two points as far apart as the application allows — close-together points amplify measurement error in the gain.

#### **For thermal energy (BTU) measurement**

Each sensor is corrected independently from its own raw reading, and the result depends on the *difference* between the two. Calibrate both against the same reference at the same time; matching the pair matters more than either absolute value.
