# A01 Pipe Type

### Definition

Sets which **T-connector (tee fitting)** the flow meter is installed on, so the unit applies the matching calibration data. The default is 1 inch.

The FP-AS310 main unit is the same for every pipe size, and each unit is calibrated at the factory together with its T-connector. If A01 does not match the T-connector on your pipe, the flow reading will be inaccurate.

<details>

Check Your T-connector (Click to Expand)

**1. Match the serial number**

Compare the serial number on the T-connector with the serial number of the main unit.

* **If the serial numbers match** (marked in red box)**:** The A01 setting should generally correspond to the pipe size marked on the T-connector.
* **If the serial numbers do not match:** A01 **must still be adjusted** to match the size of the T-connector actually used, to ensure that the correct calibration curve is applied.

**2. Identify the material and size**

Choose the option that matches both the material and the size of your T-connector.

* **Plastic T-connector** (UPVC, PPH or PVDF): select the option named by size only, such as **2 inch**.
* **Metal T-connector** (stainless steel, 316L): select the option that ends in **SS**, and match both the size and the thread. For example, **3/4 PT F SS** is a 3/4 inch, female thread, stainless steel T-connector. In the name, **PT** means pipe thread, **M** means male thread, and **F** means female thread.

</details>

### Notes

* All FP-AS310 units are factory-calibrated as matched T-connector and main unit pairs. Using a mismatched combination may result in inaccurate flow measurement. The user assumes responsibility for measurement accuracy in this case.
* Whenever the T-connector is replaced or changed, update A01 to match the new T-connector.
* After A01 matches your T-connector, use [A02 Scale Factor](/qr/fp-as310-english-v5/parameters/a-measurement-setup/a02-scale-factor.md) to correct any small remaining deviation.

### Operation Procedure

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.lorric.com/qr/fp-as310-english-v5/parameters/a-measurement-setup/a01-pipe-type.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
